  PARENT REQUIREMENTS
 

Age of Parents:
Parents should be 25-50 yrs. old for infant adoptions. Upper age limit depends upon age of child to be adopted.

Other Children:
May have other children at home. No infertility requirement.

Marriage:
Married couples preferred but single women can adopt. Previous divorces acceptable.

Travel:
Depending on the program, selected travel opportunities vary. Please request additional information.

Both parents must travel to Guatemala to meet child and complete Embassy interview. Travel typically not more than 5 days. Families may meet their child’s foster parents, orphanage caretakers and/or birth mothers and will be completely escorted and guided by LAN representatives while in Guatemala. The child will be placed with parents the first day after arrival.

Requirements may vary by program. Please request additional information.

  CHILDREN AVAILABLE
 

Gender:
Both boys and girls. Parents should be open to either gender.

Age:
Newborn to 12 years old. Most babies will be between 6-9 months at time of placement.

  TIMING
 

Referral:
Average time frame from application to the Guatemala program (after homestudy) to referral is 3-4 months.

Travel:
Approximately 6 months after referral is accepted. Parents will receive monthly updates on child during this waiting period.
